Movies screening

Add to calendar:

HKBU Academy of Film & INSAS

The student film screening in association with respected film schools from Brussels and Hong Kong, as a component of "The Belgian Days". Two short films from up-and-coming directors from each institute will be screened at this event, demonstrating the skills of recent graduates in cinema. The chosen films demonstrate the students' commitment, inventiveness, and mastery of cinematic storytelling and serve as the capstone of their academic careers. Viewers will be able to interact with the filmmakers, who will be in attendance, while watching these films on a big screen.

This screening aims to give these up-and-coming directors a stage on which to present their work and engage the public with their distinct viewpoints. The movies examine a range of subjects and feelings while providing insights into how filmmaking is changing.

A 15-year-old girl gave birth to a baby at school. Consumed by fear and anxiety, she made an irreversible choice. After spending eighteen months in remand, she was sentenced to probation. Her father, determined to help her rebuild a normal life, unknowingly only pushed her further away. The girl, desperate to make amends to her father, remained trapped in the nightmares of her past. Their seemingly mundane daily lives simmered with unspoken tension, ready to erupt at any moment. Between love and guilt, will they find light together in the darkness of their long night, or will they drag each other deeper into the mire?

J'ai rêvé d'un bateau, Manhattan

-- INSAS

Far from where they grew up, these 5 inhabitants of the residential district of Manhattan in Lodz, Poland, tell us about their dreams and ambitions for the future, but also how their relationship to "home" helps to build their identity.
