Joseph Hiu Fung Chan

Joseph Hiu Fung Chan is a Hong Kong-born violist celebrated for his versatility across solo, chamber, and orchestral stages. Embodying a strong musical connection between Europe and Asia, he has performed as an orchestral musician with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Hong Kong String Orchestra. As an active international artist, he also appears regularly at prestigious festivals and venues across Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, and Hong Kong.

Beyond the traditional concert hall, his artistic curiosity deeply engages him in multi-disciplinary art projects. Recent projects include a production with the renowned contemporary dance company Rosas, choreographed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, and Symphony for one hundred citizens and a traffic light, a large-scale urban music-theatre project by Thomas Verstraeten and Heleen van Haegenborgh. Rooted in his training at both the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, Joseph remains dedicated to exploring a dynamic range of classical, contemporary, and cross-disciplinary repertoires.
